Review of building control service

Fortismere Associates was appointed by Waverley Borough Council in June 2014 to undertake a review of the building control service in order to identify ways to:

• operate a cost effective service

• maintain effective management and performance of the service

In our report in September 2014, we made three main recommendations:

• create a vision for the service with a clearly articulated set of objectives and service standards

• identify a champion for the service

• use opportunities presented by an office move and vacancies to restructure the team; provide closer integration with other planning service functions; and introduce new methods of working
